The debate regarding same sex marriages appears to be gaining traction in many jurisdictions. The issue is now often a two prong consideration–whether individual states have the power to prohibit same-sex marriages and whether states have the authority to refuse to recognize same sex marriages performed in other states.
Regardless of where you stand on the issue, the widening gulf between fundamental and conservative positions and those held by the liberal and LBGT agenda are proving to be unavoidable.
Is this a legal issue? Is this a moral issue? Is this an issue that will strike at the very core of our nation’s fundamental and long held beliefs?
The is the issue of our times. We failed on slavery for many years. We failed on civil rights for many years as well. But is this issue parallel to those and can the same arguments be used? Just something to think about.
